info@friendshipcentres.ca www.friendshipcentres.ca The Manitoba Association of Friendship Centres Junior Office Assistant \xe2\x80\x93 Term Position The Manitoba Association of Friendship Centres (MAFC) is a Provincial Non-Profit organization that is part of Canada\'s largest urban Indigenous service delivery infrastructure. MAFC is an organization that is a vital and respected member of the Indigenous community in Manitoba. MAFC fosters the aspirations of member Friendship Centres socially, culturally, economically, and politically. This 6-month work experience placement is part of the Create Action Inclusive Social Innovation program. The Junior Office Assistant will be part of a network of Create Action participants and will join in regular peer learning sessions and evaluation activities delivered by the program partners: the Canadian CED Network, the National Association of Friendship Centres and the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation. This is a full-time contract position working 37.5 hours/week at $21.00/hour starting May 1, 2023, and ending October 27, 2023. The position is in-person and expected to attend the office daily, however MAFC is flexible and committed to working with a candidate to address their needs. Job Duties: The Junior Office Assistant will support the Manitoba Association of Friendship Centres\xe2\x80\x99 office Work Plan and work closely reporting directly to the MAFC Executive Director, Riley Webster or designate. The Junior Office Assistant will help to maintain communication with clients and staff, provide support as a notetaker for meetings, support the management of office supplies and equipment, and part in in-person, hybrid, and virtual meetings and events. Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft correspondence, letters, reports, transcribe minutes of meetings etc.
  • Data Entry
  • Manage multiple priorities at a time.
  • Schedule meetings using various platforms; e.g., Teams/Zoom/Conference calls
  • Maintain communication with MAFC staff or designated supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned and directed.
Selection Criteria:
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Not currently in education, employment, or training.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada,
  • Be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Be experiencing one or more barriers to employment.
