Job Description

4-H Alberta is seeking a creative and enthusiastic program facilitator to help lead a growing youth initiative in Calgary, AB and surrounding area. This role will support the delivery of 4-H Intro Clubs--short-term, six-week programs designed to give youth aged 9 to 15 a fun and hands-on introduction to 4-H. These part-time clubs are built around 4-H's core values and activities, offering a flexible option for families who want to try 4-H without the year-long commitment. The successful candidate will work alongside the Senior Coordinator to plan and run these programs, manage schedules, coordinate with venues, and build community connections. The position begins on September 2, 2025, with clubs scheduled for the fall, winter, and early spring. Clubs are run daytime or evenings (or both) including some weekend and summer programming.

Position Specifications

:

- Starting wage at $50,000.00- commensurate on experience

- This is a primarily work-from-home position; however, the role requires regular in-person work. You will need to travel to NW Calgary several days a week for club planning and prep, and you'll be facilitating clubs at various locations across Calgary and surrounding communities. Applicants must be based in or near Calgary, Alberta.

About 4-H Alberta's Intro-Club Program

4-H Intro Clubs are a

grant-funded initiative

and an established part of 4-H Alberta's programming. Designed for youth aged

9 to 15

, these six-week clubs offer a fun and flexible introduction to 4-H through hands-on projects and activities that build confidence, leadership, and communication skills.

Clubs meet once a week for two hours and include key elements of traditional 4-H--such as record books, project work, and community service--delivered in an accessible, short-term format.

The structure of each club may vary

to reflect different themes, interests, or seasonal opportunities.

In addition to the core six-week clubs,

bonus events are offered throughout the year

to keep members engaged and connected to the broader 4-H experience. Some of these will be on weekends.

With multiple clubs offered across Calgary and surrounding communities throughout the fall, winter, and spring, the Intro-Club program is an ideal entry point for families looking for a low-commitment way to explore 4-H. The program continues to grow as a successful model for welcoming new members and expanding 4-H's reach in urban areas.

Responsibilities of the Junior Intro-Club Program Coordinator



Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating the six-week Intro Club programs throughout Calgary and surrounding communities Facilitate safe, inclusive, and engaging programming for youth ages 9-15 Foster a member-centered environment that promotes positive adult-youth partnerships Build and maintain connections in the community to support program delivery, including venue partnerships and guest facilitators Collaborate with the intro club team to promote upcoming clubs and events Serve as a point of contact for current and prospective Intro Club members and their families Coordinate and support part-time Intro Club staff and volunteer leaders, including onboarding, and training in the Intro Club format Support other areas in 4-H Alberta when required Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Position Requirements



An education background in child development, education, or another related field A valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle Current Standard First Aid and CPR/AED (Level C) certification or ability to obtain prior to start date Complete Youth Safety Training, Commit to Kids Training and Violence & Harassment for Workers prior to facilitating an intro-club Ability to obtain a clear police check with a vulnerable sector check prior to start date Experience working with youth, specifically with youth programming Position requires high energy, excellent leadership skills and the ability to have fun during operations of the club! Comfortable instructing and working directly with youth of all ages and communicating with families at pick-up and drop-off. Excellent leadership and communication skills Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high volumes of administrative tasks during peak times Computer literacy, including working knowledge of Google Drive, and comfortable using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) Able to efficiently manage time within designated work hours Able to work independently, and collaboratively, as part of a team Available to work full time for the year with peak times from September to December and January to May Must be flexible to work outside of scheduled hours (evenings and weekends) to run clubs and assist with other special programs as required 4-H experience is an asset
