Western Archrib is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Health & Safety Advisor to support our safety program and compliance at our Edmonton production facility. This Junior level role is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills and some hands-on field experience in health and safety within a manufacturing or industrial environment. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining safety documentation, coordinating employee onboarding, and training, and supporting managers and team leaders with day-to-day safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety procedures, with excellent organizational and communication skills.

About the Position
In this role, you will play a key supporting part in workplace health and safety by assisting with the administration of safety programs, maintaining records and documentation, and helping to coordinate compliance activities. You will support risk assessments, participate in workplace inspections, and assist in the delivery of training sessions and orientations to promote safe work practices. This position also provides support for HR functions, including employee onboarding and training coordination, ensuring staff are well-prepared and aligned with company policies and procedures. Some responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities
Primary (Immediate) Responsibilities
Maintain accurate training records and safety documentation.
Assist with new hire safety orientations and onboarding procedures.
Support the scheduling and coordination of employee training (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid, equipment training).
Attend and provide administrative support for safety meetings, including preparing materials and taking notes.
Participate in quarterly Workplace Health & Safety Committee meetings.
Join daily field tours and inspections alongside the Safety Supervisor.
Assist with incident reporting and WCB documentation under direction from management.
Support data entry and tracking of safety activities (FLHAs, near misses, inspections, observations).
Promote Western Archrib's safety culture by following OH&S legislation and company policies.
Secondary (Developmental) Responsibilities
Take on a more active role in coordinating and facilitating safety meetings, with growth to champion safety discussions across all departments.
Assist in reviewing safe work procedures for compliance, escalating recommendations as needed.
Support the development and rollout of H&S programs and procedures under guidance.
Help prepare for and support company safety audits (COR requirements).
Provide administrative support during incident investigations, including collecting information and tracking corrective actions, reporting information workplace injuries to the Workers Compensation Board, and implementing modified duties agreements with staff.
Contribute to monitoring and trending safety performance data with guidance from senior staff.
Gradually expand responsibilities in onboarding and training delivery as experience grows.

Preferred Requirements
1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role, HR, or a combined role.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to balance multiple responsibilities across health and safety functions.
Strong interpersonal skills for effectively communicating safety initiatives.
Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and compliant workplace environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Candidates must be physically fit and able to lift to a maximum of 50lbs consistently
Candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation

Standard work schedule will be Mon-Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm. (Subject to change)
Compensation
Wage $23-25 per hour depending on experience.
