Our client Xerox is looking for a Junior Graphic Designer/Desktop Publisher (MS Office, Adobe)
Length: 1 year contract with the possibility of extension
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Pay Rate: $20/hr

ROLE MANDATE:
This role will report to the Xerox National Creative Lead supporting their client in Canada.

Xerox's client is a PC based client with most of the work produced using corporate templates in various Microsoft programs. This is not a creative role. Our primary focus is Desktop Publishing, layout, text formatting and brand management.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
Supporting PC based client with most of the work produced using corporate templates in various Microsoft programs
Desktop Publishing, layout, text formatting and brand management
Building client relationships and providing superior customer service
Manage numerous demands nationally
Creating or modifying digital documents using office, desktop publishing and web page design software - using various platforms
Learning optimal qualities and configurations of Printing Technology for jobs specific to the equipment
Able to scan full color images and accurately judge color output on a variety of devices
Using existing photo and illustration into design
Coordinating all aspects of print productions for print or electronic materials
Completing all pre-flight requirements as needed
Using customer feedback to improve performance graphics services at the site
Demonstrating knowledge of industry trends, latest software applications and can articulate benefit to customer
Assuming expert knowledge of the brand and corporate vision in order to bring about the ownership of brand standards across the account
Managing and taking ownership of complex time sensitive design projects providing strategic advice on a variety of elements including Concept Development, Technical Layout, most appropriate medium, creative design, adherence to budget and time constraints, corporate visioning, and branding elements
Establishing the conceptual and stylistic direction for all design staff on the project as well the work of all third-party service providers (photographers, illustrators, printers, etc.) and anyone else interested in the project
Providing mentorship and coaching to less experienced designers in technical and creative areas
Able to apply a broad scope multifaceted approach to design (unique use of software)
Taking initiative in developing internal and external contacts to provide value to customer

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a corporate environment and using Word and PPT to create and format documents is required
Experience in Adobe Suite, including Acrobat Pro is a must.
Experience building client relationships
Experience providing superior customer service
Professional, energetic, and able manage numerous demands nationally
Understand digital colour environment and requirements, and able to prepress files in this environment
Understand colour issues as it relates to offset and digital colour printing
Ability to comprehend and translate customer requests to job requirements
Ability to work with others in a team environment
Creative and design on small projects with some supervision
Work in multidisciplinary environment
Provide graphic and digital document design services from concept to design to print management seeking guidance when required
Manage creative, design, technical layout for small to medium sized marketing projects of moderate complexity seeking guidance only in unique situations
Fully competent to perform more complex graphic and digital document design services from concept to design to print management
Lead creative, design, and technical layout for larger, highly complex projects
Proactively identify process or other improvements to deliver improved customer satisfaction and use of design services

EDUCATION BACKGROUND:
2 to 4 years graphic design/fine arts diploma/degree from recognized institution or post-secondary
PC, Mac technology or graphics training or equivalent work experience in the graphics industry experience
