With over 70 years of experience in British Columbia, we provide comprehensive road construction services, including excavation, gravel placement, base and sub-base preparation, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks, curbs, asphalt paving, and milling.
Position Overview
As a Junior Estimator / Estimating Coordinator, you will collaborate with senior estimators and project teams to develop accurate cost plans and tender packages. The ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings is paramount--this role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into plans, spotting details, and learning the ins and outs of project costing.
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to fully understand project scope.
Perform quantity take?offs for materials such as earthworks, concrete, piping, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and asphalt.
Solicit and track supplier and subcontractor quotes.
Maintain bid schedules, historical cost records, and standardized take?off templates.
Assist in assembling complete tender submissions, including bid forms, scope narratives, and supporting documentation.
Attend pre?bid/site meetings to clarify scope and gather additional information.
Facilitate the handover of estimating deliverables to project managers once contracts are awarded.
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2 years' exposure to construction estimating or coordination.
Experience using Heavy bid and Bluebeam software
Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and confident learning new digital tools.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Valid BC drivers license
Eagerness to learn, take direction from senior team members, and grow into a full?fledged estimator.
