In this role, you will:
  • Work with other Developers, Project Managers and Solution Managers throughout the software development lifecycle, following Agile Principles.
  • Develop technical solutions to support business processes within the organization and support updates to existing applications.
  • Develop and maintain new and existing Web Applications, Windows Services and work with SQL and Oracle Databases.
  • Provide analytical and technical support for requests, projects, or initiatives.
  • Capture and interpret business requirements in the form of user stories.
  • Develop software against business requirements and user stories.
  • Write technical documentation for new and existing solutions.
  • Liaise with Applications Manager on issues of business process and applicability to Babcock Canada applications
  • Works with the business to ensure appropriate governance is applied and adhered to in accordance with IT best practices.
  • Other duties as directed.
The ideal candidate brings:

  • Experience of Babcock Applications and development processes
  • Experience of .NET, C#
  • Experience of MVC.
  • Experience of ASP.NET Forms
  • Experience of relational databases with Oracle SQL/PLSQL and SQL Server programming.
  • Experience of using DevOps for source control and software development.
  • Ability to work with a number of web application applicable technologies e.g. JQuery, BootStrap, CSS.
  • Experience of developing and consuming SOAP, JSON and RESTful Web Services.
  • Understanding and exposure to Object Oriented practices and principles.
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile (Scrum/Kanban) methodologies and practices.
  • Other desired but not essential experience of unit testing, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, Crystal Reports, MS Access, Telerik.
  • Experience of working in a large-scale organization with ERP systems.
  • Technical and/or business experience with demonstrable professional growth.
  • Good organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple activities and objectives in a rapidly changing environment, while delivering quality service.
  • Strong collaboration and consulting skills, committed to providing exceptional customer service and responding to user needs in a prompt, courteous manner.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in terms clearly understood by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Technical writing skills with experience in gathering and documenting user requirements and the ability to produce documents ranging from specifications to user manuals.
  • Good knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation computer programs, preferably Microsoft.
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date as well as any COVID boosters recommended by public health authorities
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
