We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a Junior Designer to join our Communications Team for a 14-month term ending December 31, 2024, with an opportunity to renew. Reporting to the Creative Lead in the Corporate Communications department, this role will primarily support our Marketing and Customer Solutions team. The successful candidate will assist with the creative execution of Nova Scotia Power\xe2\x80\x99s brand, providing compelling design materials that support organizational goals.

The ideal Junior Designer values collaboration and has a passion for design and storytelling.

As Junior Designer you will:

  • Create a wide variety of materials including but not limited to factsheets, PowerPoint presentations, website elements, logo design/branding, promotional banners, handouts, direct mailers and email templates.
  • Participate in concept development with internal partners (departments) and external partners (creative agencies, print and publishing) for all channels (online, social, traditional, publications, events).
  • Ensure brand standards are maintained.
  • Maintain the integrity of brand programs to showcase our clean energy initiatives.
  • Work closely clients/teams to create brand consistency across all channels.
  • Maintain marketing asset management, organization, and creation of photos, videos, content, etc.
  • Meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety.
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.

  • Knowledge of design marketing and communications.
  • High-level knowledge of advertising processes and the various advertising disciplines (creative, production, web/mobile content, video).

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree, or diploma in visual arts, design, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years demonstrated experience working with creative development.
  • Digital design for web/mobile content.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
  • Experience working with agency partners and cross functional teams.
The following qualifications would be an asset:
  • Video experience \xe2\x80\x93 shooting and editing.
  • Experience with web-based content management systems.
