As our business continues to grow, we are looking to hire a Junior Design Engineer/Technologist to our growing Canadian team. In this role, you'll work closely with our senior engineers, production, sales, and service teams to support new product development, improve existing designs, and maintain high standards in documentation and product performance. Key Responsibilities for Junior Design Engineer/Technologist



Support senior engineers in the design, development, and optimization

of mechanical components for centrifugal pumps, with a focus on solids-handling applications (e.g., impellers, volutes).

Prepare detailed technical drawings and 3D models

for cast, machined, and fabricated components using AutoCAD, PTC Creo, or equivalent CAD software.

Create and maintain standardized Bills of Materials (BOMs)

and Maintenance and Operation Manuals for all Hevvy/Toyo product lines, including submersible, vertical, cantilever, and horizontal pump configurations.

Provide engineering oversight on data entry tasks

, ensuring accuracy and consistency in documentation and system records.

Support the Product Development team

in generating performance curves, technical data sheets, and engineering documentation for new and existing products.

Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, and Service teams

to troubleshoot field-related issues, provide technical assistance, and implement standard or custom-engineered solutions.

Participate in internal pump testing

to confirm product performance aligns with design intent and quality standards.

Support research and development (R&D) initiatives

, assisting in the development of new product lines and design innovations from concept to production.

Assist in the preparation of engineering proposals and cost estimates

for customer-specific projects and non-standard product configurations.

Perform tolerance analysis

to improve existing designs by reducing manufacturing costs and enhancing fit and function.

Review and verify technical content

in marketing materials and customer-facing documents to ensure alignment with engineering specifications.

Collaborate on special projects

with Project Managers and the engineering team, particularly for non-standard or customized product solutions.

Support ISO 9001:2015 compliance efforts

by maintaining accurate engineering records and participating in internal documentation reviews and audits.

Required Competencies:



Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Design or Mechanical Manufacturing or BSME

Recent Grad- 3 years experience in mechanical design or product development (preferably in rotating equipment, pumps, or industrial machinery).

Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software

Eligible to register or currently registered as an EIT with EGBC

Ability to read drawings

Preferred Competencies (assets):



Exposure to FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools for design validation.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes including casting, machining, and welding

Strong knowledge of centrifugal pump fundamentals and fluid dynamics

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
