:

We are looking for an Assistant Butcher to join our team at a local butcher shop that focuses on regenerative farming. As an Junior Butcher, you will be responsible for assisting customers, providing great conversation with customers, unloading trucks, cleaning and sanitizing the cut room, and assisting the Head Butcher with daily tasks.

The Retail Butcher will be a mature individual who will demonstrate the necessary qualities to perform this position with attention to detail and organization. The butcher will assist in performing specific daily butcher duties. Develop your CAREER with VG Meats!

Duties & Responsibilities: * Handle the following equipment: Slicing machine, Sausage machine, Salami mixer and cooker, Power grinder, Manual cutting utensil and Band saw.

• Assist customers with their meat selections and provide excellent customer service
• Engage in great conversations with customers and provide them with information about the meat we sell and how it was produced
• Assist the Head Butcher with processing meat and preparing cuts for display
• Unload trucks of meat and other supplies
• Clean and sanitize the cut room and all equipment
• Help maintain a clean and organized shop
• Help with inventory management and stock rotation
• Assist with butchering classes and other special events as needed
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Experience working in a butcher shop or related field is preferred but not required
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Physical ability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods of time
• Attention to detail and ability to follow directions
• Passion for sustainable and regenerative agriculture is a plus
• Willingness to learn and take direction from the Head Butcher
• A desire to understand butchery at its highest level and a commitment to excellence
• Ability to work in a cold environment and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 50lbs

Salary:

The salary offered is $ 15.80 to $18 / hr for 42.5 hrs a week.
