Junior Bookkeeper

to manage essential day-to-day functions and support month-end preparation in a hands-on environment. This is an on-site employee role based at the Branch in Dundas; remote/hybrid work is not available. Position Details

Employment Type:

Temporary Part-Time Employee Position (Six (6) months, with possible extension based on Branch needs and funding).

Hours:

Approximately 20-25 hours/week (on-site). Additional hours may be required during onboarding, events, and month-end.

Compensation:

$22 - $25 per hour, commensurate with practical experience.

Role & Responsibilities Overview



This role works under the direct guidance of our Controller in a transition year to QBO and POS (Square) system integration. We are looking for a candidate eager to apply their foundational knowledge and grow their skills.

Process day-to-day transactions in QuickBooks Online (AP/AR). Prepare and organize deposit support, Square/POS data, and event backup; maintain an exceptions list and flag issues promptly. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and supporting schedules for Controller review. Support month-end close by assembling the simple close package and preparing draft internal reports (P&L, Balance Sheet). Maintain, update, and improve SOPs/checklists and assist with drafting step-by-step task instructions for routine processes.

Experience and Qualifications Required



Education:

Bookkeeping/Accounting certificate or diploma (or equivalent practical experience).

Experience:

Junior-level experience (1-2 years minimum) supporting AP/transaction entry, participating in bank reconciliations, and closing procedures.

Software:

Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (entering transactions, running reports), proficiency in Outlook, and Excel proficiency is a must.

Personal:

High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and reliable on-site attendance are mandatory.

Assets



Demonstrated experience with Square and POS environments and matching POS summaries to bank deposits. Prior non-profit, club, or association bookkeeping experience. Exposure to cash-handling environments and deposit preparation.
