Responsibilities and Duties: \xc2\xb7 Prepare engineered floor/roof framing layouts for residential or commercial projects using MiTek SAPPHIRE software. \xc2\xb7 Responsible for design of engineered I-Joists, LVL beams and metal hanger connector specifications. \xc2\xb7 Communicating and working with the Truss Design Department and Engineers when necessary for specific design requirements. \xc2\xb7 Interpret construction plans, building supplies plans and information, apply these files for engineering and supply. \xc2\xb7 Intermediate Designers will have opportunity to mentor new employees or co-op students and be a role model in their future career growth. 2 \xc2\xb7 Assist team members in resolving structural design problems and provide expert advice that may arise. \xc2\xb7 Performs other duties as required. Requirements and Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Graduate from an architectural, civil or construction engineering technology program \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Ontario Building Code wood construction framing is required. \xc2\xb7 Able to read and interpret architectural and structural plans details. \xc2\xb7 Extremely detail oriented. \xc2\xb7 Functional math and computer skills. \xc2\xb7 Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. \xc2\xb7 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. \xc2\xb7 Excellent professional work ethic. \xc2\xb7 Effective verbal and written communication. \xc2\xb7 Ability to manage several projects simultaneously. \xc2\xb7 Must have a positive attitude and be a team player to support the team with demands and deadlines. \xc2\xb7 Have a creative mindset and be able to think outside of the box. \xc2\xb7 Aptitude for critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making. \xc2\xb7 Intermediate Designers will also present 5 years of experience working as a wood product floor designer. \xc2\xb7 Strong experience in, MiTek Structure or similar CAD based software to prepare framing layouts and model floor and roof loads for engineering design is required. \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of APA details or similar from an I-Joist manufacturer is required. \xc2\xb7 Ability to assist in training new and existing junior floor designers.
