Junior Accounting Manager

Our client is a global publicly traded manufacturing company. As a result of exciting growth, they are adding a new position to the Canadian Finance Team. As Junior Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in managing accounting activities for North American business entities. Reporting to the NA Manager, your responsibilities will include:
General Accounting

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities: journal entries, provisions, general ledger maintenance, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Act as liaison between NA Business Units, Shared Services, and Corporate functions.
  • Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis for balance sheet and P& L accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements and support internal/external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and maintain internal controls.
  • Oversee accounting processes performed by external partners for accuracy.
  • Support tax reporting and provide financial data as required.
Monthly & Year-End Closing
  • Manage monthly closing activities with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Resolve issues impacting month-end close and communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Prepare internal and external reports for business units, corporate consolidation, and tax authorities.
Process Optimization
  • Participate in end-to-end projects, including requirements gathering, testing, and implementation.
  • Drive process improvements and automation in collaboration with Finance, Operations, and IT.
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and opportunities for optimization.

Requirements:
Who We Are Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting (Master's an asset).
  • Certification: CPA designation or actively pursuing.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in accounting (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and processes (Fixed Assets & Cost Accounting an asset).
  • Month-end close and financial statement preparation experience.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Cognos, and MS Office (Excel expertise required).
  • Skills: S:trong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Hands-on knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Collaborative team player with resilience and problem-solving mindset.
  • Other: Experience with SLAs, KPIs, and shared services processes (Record to Report, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay).
