As a full line distributor of pet food and accessories, we deliver to a network of over 1200 independent Retail Pet Food Stores throughout central and south-western Ontario, northern and eastern Ontario and in the Maritime Provinces. We are currently seeking a Junior Accountant to join our Finance team.

A Snapshot of the job:



Responsibilities: The Junior Accountant, under the direction of the Finance Manager, will primarily be responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to the organization. This role will assist with investigations and perform analysis where necessary. The incumbent will also assist the Financial Controller through the month-end process including bank requisitions, entries, internal controls and monitoring of ledger accounts, etc. The Junior Accountant must possess the ability to analyze and present numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, and forms and the ability to read, understand, and calculate financial figures such as discounts, interest rates, proportions, percentages, and taxes.

Responsibilities Include:



Investigate, explain and resolve discrepancies as part of our margin analysis process Carry out billing, collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines Follow established procedures for processing our billback to suppliers. Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities Review and update credit and loan files Assisting the Financial Controller through the month-end process including: Bank reconciliation Adjustment entries and accruals Fixed assets HST/GST remittance, WSIB and corporate tax assessment Internal controls and general ledger account monitoring Monthly financial statement preparation Assisting with the year-end review/audit process Other duties as assigned

What you will bring:



Minimum college diploma in Accounting Experience with accounting software Intermediate experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word Intermediate knowledge of accounting practices/systems, budgets, and internal controls Problem solving and analytical ability, time management and organizational skills Professional, courteous and pleasant telephone manner High level of integrity and excellent work ethic Ability to work individually as well as part of a team Minimum one year of experience in similar role
