Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the Energy and Mining Industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to now over 400 team members and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment.
The Role
We are seeking a full-time
Journeyperson Welder
to work out of our Fort McMurray, Alberta shop. The ideal candidate is local to Fort McMurray and has 5+ years of welding experience. He/she is hardworking, self-motivated and reliable. This position reports into the Shop Foreman and will assist with welding and repairing heavy equipment involved in reclamation and overburden work at the Fort Hills mine.
Location/Job Details
Fort McMurray Shop
Monday to Friday, 12 hours per day and work on weekends as required.
6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Fast-paced, busy work environment.
Repetitive bending and lifting up to 50 pounds required.
Some travel required to site as needed.
Own tools required.
Compensation/Benefits
$51.00 to $55.00 per hour with OT at 1.5 x the regular rate (bi-weekly pay).
OT after 8 hours per day.
$2.00 per hour increase after 90 days subject to a successfully performance review.
9.6% Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay on all regular hours paid out bi-weekly.

Responsibilities/Job Duties
Install equipment modifications e.g. slip tanks, warning beacons, flood lights, etc.
Complete daily documentation thoroughly, including: FLHAs, timesheets, pre and post inspections of all tools and equipment, etc.
Review, understand, and follow all safe work practices and procedures.
Report incidents, near misses, equipment damage, and hazards to Supervisors immediately.
Positively participate in all toolbox talks and all applicable company/site meetings.
Education/Qualifications/Training
5+ years working in a simar role preferrable in a mining or oilsands environment.
Journeyperson Welding certificate required.
Must be proficient in English, both verbally and written.
Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License with a good driver's abstract.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
WHMIS 2015 certification (can be provided for free through ACSA).
Ability to use electronic devices (cell phone) and ability to adapt to new technologies as industry changes.
