Journeyperson Electrician
(1 Position Available) Term of Employment: Full-time, ContinuingRate of Pay: Band 6: $38.31 - $41.84 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)Location: Operations CentreDuties:The Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician, reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, will perform a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the City of Lloydminster\xe2\x80\x99s electrical systems, fixtures and equipment at all City facilities. City facilities include but are not limited to, arenas, swimming pools, water treatment plants, airport and sports centres, with a wide variety in the types of electrical work carried out.Duties:

  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintains electrical systems. Systems include lighting, power, data systems, control systems, transformers, motors and Soft starts and VFD.
  • Inspects electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
  • Carries out lighting and power additions or alterations to City buildings.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots issues with fire alarms, emergency lighting, back-up generators and other life safety systems.
  • Running of data cable and some IT installations.
  • Shares information with team members and is collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees.
  • Administrative duties such as timesheets and providing details of work carried out on work orders.
  • Provide consultancy advice to other departments on electrical matters.
  • Prepares estimates and quotes for electrical work.
  • Updates drawings with current information.
  • Other related duties as required.
Schedule:
Normal working hours are Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday 8:00AM \xe2\x80\x93 5:00PM with the occasional requirement to work outside these standard hours. Occasional weekend and evening work will be required. This position may be required to be on call.Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check. May be required to undergo Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
  • Successful applicant must provide proof of qualifications.
  • Applicants with international education will be required to include an Academic Credential Assessment with application.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid Inter-Provincial Journeyperson Electrician Red Seal certificate.
  • Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Electrical Maintenance and Commercial Installation is mandatory.
  • Considerable experience in a wide variety of commercial and industrial electrical work as it applies to power distribution and controls for facilities and process equipment such as overhead cranes, lighting, fire protection systems, HVAC, conveyors, pumps, fans, gas detection systems etc.
  • Ability to layout and install unique electrical systems for special projects.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to navigate on the internet, use Smartphones and Timesheet apps etc.
  • Must have the ability to work responsibly alone with minimal supervision and work well with other employees.
  • Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
  • Must be in good physical condition and be able to stand for long period of time with carrying supplies, reaching, stretching, climbing, bending and reaching motions, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to make decisions, provide direction and problem-solve.
  • Training in arc flash, fall arrest and elevating platforms desired.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity and ethical conduct. Accepts ownership and accountability for own actions.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to deal with the public and external agencies courteously and in an effective manner.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan with an acceptable Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract is required. This position may be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business purposes.
