Position Summary


We are seeking a skilled

Journeyman Electrician

with a strong service background to join our electrical team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and installing

PLC and conventional control systems

,

communications systems

,

backup power/UPS systems

, and

backup generators with transfer switches

. This role requires a self-motivated technician capable of diagnosing complex electrical issues in industrial, commercial, and institutional environments while delivering exceptional customer service.


Position Details


Candidates local to Cranbrook or the East Kootenays preferred

Key Responsibilities


Perform service, maintenance, and troubleshooting on a wide range of electrical systems, including: +

PLC and control systems

(Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
+

Conventional relay-based and hardwired control systems


+

Communication systems

(Ethernet, Modbus, control wiring, etc.)
+

Backup power systems

, including

UPS units

,

generators

, and

automatic transfer switches (ATS)


Diagnose and repair electrical faults safely and efficiently. Interpret and modify electrical schematics, control diagrams, and wiring drawings. Install, test, and commission new electrical and control equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and backup power equipment. Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and other trades to ensure successful project completion. Maintain accurate service documentation, including work orders, reports, and test records. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Provide technical support and communicate effectively with clients to ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications


Valid Journeyman Electrician license

. Minimum

5+ years

of experience in electrical service work, preferably in industrial or commercial settings. Strong understanding of

PLC logic

,

control wiring

, and

electrical troubleshooting

. Experience with

UPS systems

,

standby generators

, and

transfer switches

(manual and automatic). Familiarity with

the Canadian Electrical Code

, and other relevant electrical codes and safety standards. Ability to read and interpret complex electrical and control schematics. Proficiency with testing instruments (multimeters, insulation testers, power analyzers, etc.). Strong communication and documentation skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills (Assets)


Experience with

PLC programming or modification

(Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) Knowledge of

networked control systems

and

remote monitoring technologies

Experience in industrial automation or facility maintenance

Physical Requirements


Ability to work in a variety of environments (indoor, outdoor, elevated, confined spaces). Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks as needed. Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and occasional overtime or travel.
