Journeyman Mobile Off-Highway Welder

We are looking for a Journeyman Mobile Off-Highway Welder to join our Summit Truck & Equipment Repair team in the West Kootenays, just a 30 minute commute from Castlegar, BC. • Wage is $40-43 per hour, depending on experience

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform welding repairs on heavy duty equipment, both at the shop and in the field.
• Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
• Other mechanical repair work as required (installing teeth, edges, undercarriage etc).
• Maintain company service truck, ensuring it is kept clean and in good repair.
• Train and mentor apprentice welders.
• Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

As a member of the Summit team, we expect you bring the following to the table:

• Experience as a Heavy Duty Off-Road Equipment Welder.
• Field experience and ability to work independently unsupervised.
• Red Seal Journeyman Welder ticket
• Experience in logging and forestry heavy equipment repairs
• Class 5 driver\'s licence with air brakes endorsement and a clean abstract
• Must have a full set of tooling, suitable for heavy equipment repairs.
• Positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Strong safety mindset
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workflow in an efficient manner.
• Team player who can share their knowledge by teaching and coaching junior welders.
