Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman/Journeywoman HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive mechanical knowledge, field service expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems. This role involves working on commercial and industrial equipment, ensuring optimal operation, safety, and compliance with industry standards. Candidates should have a strong background in construction, appliance repair, plumbing, welding, boiler systems, and property maintenance. A valid Canadian driver's license is required for travel between job sites. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex systems such as ammonia refrigeration and HVAC/R equipment.

Responsibilities



Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, refrigeration units, boilers, and related mechanical equipment. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents to accurately troubleshoot issues. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system efficiency and safety. Diagnose problems using tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment; execute repairs efficiently. Conduct welding, piping, plumbing, and equipment repair tasks as needed for system integrity. Service commercial refrigeration systems including ; handle refrigerants safely according to regulations. Maintain detailed service records and reports of work performed. Assist in system upgrades or modifications in accordance with project specifications. Ensure compliance with safety protocols during all maintenance activities; operate equipment safely at all times. Support property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems or mechanical infrastructure. On Call Schedule - You will be required to be added to the on call rotation

Qualifications



Proven experience as a Journeyman/Journeywoman HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic with strong field service background. Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), plumbing, boilers, and appliance repair. Ability to read schematics and HVAC design documents accurately. Mechanical aptitude with skills in welding, equipment repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting complex systems. Experience working with HVAC/R equipment including air conditioning units and boiler systems. Familiarity with construction standards related to mechanical installations. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters. Valid Canadian driver's license for travel between job sites; clean driving record preferred. Certification or licensing in HVAC or Refrigeration required; relevant apprenticeship or mechanic experience essential.
