Overview of Position:
JOB LOCATION: BEAUSEJOUR, MB
The Journeyman Carpenter - Framing is responsible for completing residential wood stick framing as well as framing of (SIP) Structurally Insulated Panels and metal flashing. (On-site training available for SIP Installation).
The successful candidate must be proficient at the following tasks: Perimeter frost walls, Interior walls, install windows and exterior doors, TGI floor system, utilize appropriate math skills, able to read blueprints, and must possess mathematical skills. They must also have, a valid Red Seal in Carpentry, knowledge of residential construction practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, and safety.
Wood Framing
Structurally Insulated Panel framing
Door and window Install
Finish the building and ceiling
Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
Operate light equipment (Bobcats, forklifts, etc.)
Responding to change orders
Keep a daily log of tasks
Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System
Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required, and the work does not exceed own limitations
Understand and comply with all policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year minimum, of experience as a Journeyman Carpenter/Framer
1 year preferred, light gauge steel framing
Currently working in the trade
Knowledge of Building methods, tools, and equipment used in framing / carpentry
Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures and ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, and as-builds
Able to layout, framing, finishing of typical projects
Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labor estimates and to interpret job cost reports
