Overview:
Joseph Brant Hospital is a community hospital serving Burlington and surrounding areas since 1961. The hospital provides a range of services, including specialist clinics, medicine, surgery, emergency, maternal/child, mental health, and rehabilitation/continuing care. In 2018, the hospital completed a major redevelopment and expansion project to better serve the growing community.
The Dispatch Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of hospital operations by coordinating communications between staff, responding to incidents, and monitoring security systems.
Responsibilities:
Communicate information to clients and security team members using telecommunications systems and equipment.
Dispatch all service calls to appropriate responders in accordance with established procedures.
Take incoming radio, phone, and in-person calls; document details accurately and escalate as required.
Provide exceptional customer service to hospital staff, security staff, and the public.
Monitor and manage security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms, etc.) and respond per protocol.
Assist the Supervisor and/or Team Lead with incident and complaint investigations.
Support documentation, audits, and reports as requested.
Direct backup support units during incidents as needed.
Interact professionally with police, fire department, and EMS.
Update and maintain the Security Incident database.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM with no errors
Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Strong decision-making skills and ability to manage high call volumes
Minimum 6 months of experience in Alarm Monitoring, Dispatch, CCTV Monitoring, or Call Centre roles
Immunization Record: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and TB skin tests (1 & 2)
Vulnerable Sector Check
First Aid & CPR Level C
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Note:
Applicants must hold valid certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
Candidates who do not currently possess these certifications may opt into Paladin's pre-employment UOF/MOAB training program, offered free of charge with a 6-month employment commitment.
