The RM of Hoodoo No. 401, Town of Cudworth, and Town of Wakaw are seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of
Joint Fire Chief
to provide strong leadership to the
Cudworth/Hoodoo
and
Wakaw/Hoodoo Volunteer Fire Departments
.
These departments serve their respective municipalities as well as neighbouring communities through fire protection agreements with the RM of Fish Creek, Resort Village of Wakaw Lake, and Wakaw Lake Regional Campground.

and
Cudworth

The Joint Fire Chief role is a
permanent, part-time management position (24 hours/week)
with additional compensation for active fire duty (fire calls).

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage both fire departments, including planning, administration, recruitment, training, and supervision.
Direct emergency fire activities to protect life and property.
Collaborate with other Fire Chiefs, Emergency Measures Officials, and provincial representatives.
Prepare and manage annual budgets for each department.
Report to the Joint Fire Committee and Councils on department activities.
Maintain and update the Emergency Plan and liaise with the Emergency Measures Organization.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Councils.
Qualifications:
Certification or successful completion of studies related to firefighting, prevention & suppression, hazardous materials, and emergency measures including (or willing to achieve) *mandatory:
NFPA 1001 Level 1 & 2 First Aid & CPR Fire Officer 1 Pump Operator (driver operator) Fire Inspector 1 & 2
Auto Extrication Ops Level 1 minimum Fire Service Instructor
ICS 100 & 200
Hazmat ops - technician preferred
- Experience working with volunteer or professional firefighters.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
- Strong administrative, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial fire regulations.
- Familiarity with fire apparatus, equipment, and rescue operations.
- Valid Class 5A driver's license (3A preferred).
- Ideally, the successful candidate will reside within or be willing to relocate to a 5-mile radius of the RM of Hoodoo.
