Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract

Work Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: $27.10 per hour (Level 5)

Location: 222 Dixon Road, Suite 207, Etobicoke, ON M9P 3S5
Contract Period September 18, 2023 to March 31, 2024

The Job Coach/Job Developer for Mobile Application & Azure Developer Training Program is responsible for coordinating the promotion of the program and helping with the selection of candidates who are eligible to enter the IT Mobile Development and Application program. The incumbent will be responsible to do intake and assessment of prospective clients, facilitating employment readiness sessions, providing support and conducting evaluations, working closely with employers to design work placement and pre- employment workshops. The responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the mission and policies of YWCA Toronto.

ABOUT YWCA TORONTO \xe2\x80\x93 WOMEN IN TRADES AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS

The Women in Trades and Technology programs provide training and employment service to women and gender diverse people interested in joining the construction, landscape and information technology industries. Programs are funded by MTCU (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) and are geared to educate women and gender diverse people about career opportunities in non-traditional occupations and train them in trades-specific programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and implements all outreach activities for recruiting eligible participants for the IT Mobile Development and Application in consultation with the manager and Seneca College;
  • Ensures YWCA social media outlets are updated, prepares and send e-bulletins, post online ads, negotiates print media, TV or radio advertising in consultation with the manager and the Advocacy and Communications department;
  • Develops, organizes and facilitates the employment readiness components of the program;
  • Provides continuous support to clients and conducts on-going evaluations of clients\xe2\x80\x99 satisfaction and program\xe2\x80\x99s performance in accordance to our funders\xe2\x80\x99 requirements and YWCA Toronto standards;
  • Works closely with the Manager for coordinating, planning and implementing of networking and outreach activities to employers;
  • Identifies employers who are willing to offer paid or unpaid placements;
  • Maintains records and compiles program statistics; prepares reports and correspondences and conducts follow up calls;
  • Provides job development counselling, job coaching and job retention support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • In-depth knowledge of an academic discipline normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Adult Education or equivalent (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
  • 3-5 years experience in related field;
  • Group Facilitation and Life Skills Training required;
  • Access to a motor vehicle with a 2 million liability insurance required;
  • Level B Testing would be an asset;
  • Counselling approach that is flexible, de-escalates tension, teaches conflict resolution and is focused on success;
  • Ability to work within an anti-oppression, feminist framework;
  • Ability to deliver culturally sensitive services in a multicultural environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to handle crisis situations effectively both in person and by telephone;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to maintain a positive approach and a professional manner at all times.
