How will you contribute?

The Multimedia Designer (Web) is responsible for creating visual content that engages audiences and informs them about the work of the Senate. The successful candidate will conceptualize, develop and produce web pages, websites and online publications, help maintain the Senate website, and provide design support for various creative projects. The role involves working with clients, understanding their needs, and creating design solutions with high impact visuals that meet industry standards for user experience which are both on trend and reflective of the Senate\'s role.

The general public to staff one (1) determinate full-time position for ten (10) months in the Communications Directorate.

Prerequisites

  • Post-secondary education in multimedia production, graphic design, related field of study or a combination of education and experience;
  • Experience of specialized website development languages (e.g. CSS; HTML), website editing software (e.g. Adobe Dreamweaver);
  • Experience in maintaining a website using a content-management system such as Umbraco;
  • Experience in technical planning, design, development, testing and implementation of web pages and online publications;
  • Experience in multimedia software (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud);
  • Experience and proficiency working in both PC and Apple (Mac) environments;
  • Experience and proficiency using the MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint);
  • Experience providing exemplary client service and explaining technical subjects to non-technical audiences;
  • Expertise in the methods and techniques for conducting quality assurance and troubleshooting for web pages/websites;
  • In-depth knowledge of user-centered design methods and processes for projects involving various mediums, including digital platforms, multimedia products (e.g. videos), and digital signage;
  • Knowledge of the WCAG standards on accessibility to ensure technical compliance;
  • Expertise in implementing corrective measures where client proposals present technical feasibility and standards compliance issues is considered an asset.
