How will you contribute?

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, highly organized, driven and experienced Identification and Security Screening Clerk to support the Corporate Security Directorate in managing and prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced, results-focused environment. As an Identification and Security Screening Clerk you will:

  • Receive and process personnel security screening requests for Senate staff and other parliamentary groups;
  • Receive, record and process fingerprints requests by using a digital electronic fingerprinting system;
  • Communicate on a regular basis with Senate staff and security officials through correspondence and/or by phone for missing information and/or clarifications;
  • Analyze documentation for adverse information;
  • Maintain a database of security screening files and ensure compliance;
  • Provide other administrative services such as processing printing requests, assisting in the logistics for special events and projects, and preparing special reports and statistics.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites
  • Post-secondary education in Security Management or a related field OR a combination of education, training and related experience;
  • Recent experience (within the last year) working in a security environment, liaising with security officials and maintaining both electronic and manual filing systems;
  • A minimum of three (3) years\' experience in assisting/communicating with the general public and have excellent client service skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to compile, analyse, prepare, organize and maintain information in an efficient manner;
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, identify and solve problems and work simultaneously with different groups in a multi-disciplinary environment with conflicting priorities;
  • Knowledge of the roles of lead security agencies (i.e. RCMP, TBS, PCO, CSIS, etc.) and other federal government departments involved in safety and security programs;
  • Solid experience with MS Office products;
  • Experience (within the last year) in conducting preliminary checks in relation to personnel security screening is considered an asset;
  • Experience using modern digital equipment and specialized software to produce photographic and fingerprinting documentation is considered an asset.
