Our research scientists were responsible for over 100 patents, 17 compounds advanced to IND-enabling toxicology studies, and 7 compounds reaching Phase I or beyond.
X-Chem is seeking a motivated IT Technician to provide a range of administration support across the IT team and support the delivery of exceptional client care to colleagues across the business. The role will have a broad remit given the nature of the work and support both operational service and project work within the department. The person in this role is to deliver a first class, professional service to the team and business and will take personal ownership and responsibility for standards of service.
Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient operation of IT purchasing and ordering procedures working closely with IT, Accounting teams and suppliers to obtain quotes and proposals, submit purchase orders, receipt goods, handle invoice queries, manage returns and supplier queries.
  • Administer IT equipment inventories and manage the allocation, tracking and return of all IT equipment including damages and repairs. Liaise with the Facilities department to ensure that e-waste disposals are in accordance with the proper organization SOPs.
  • Manage software licences, subscriptions and maintenance renewals, and the tracking of usage levels to support budgeting and adherence to licence agreements.
  • Review, analyse and report upon the usage and consumption of key IT services, including cell phone and printer usages.
  • Provide administration support for key IT Services and Projects including the scheduling of new starter inductions, training sessions and coordination of supplier deliveries across all X-Chem offices.
  • Support the delivery of management information to the IT management team and business including preparation of regular IT Service, Development and Project reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Improve and promote communication and engagement with clients across the business, supporting the IT Management team with project newsletters, updating intranets, websites and help guides, scheduling regular service reviews with regional offices.
  • Responsible for organizing meetings and events with internal and external teams, offices and suppliers and, where appropriate, maintaining minutes and note-taking.
  • Organize travel arrangements for members of the IT team.
  • Ensure that all IT records and documentation is accurate and kept up to date.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative systems and processes and their ongoing monitoring and management to improve service quality and client care.

Requirements
  • A broad understanding of activities, operations, projects, and software development within a modern IT department.
  • Experience of industry/company specific IT applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and databases.
  • Excellent Excel and/or Smartsheet skills to analyse and create business and IT reports.
  • Able to work as part of a small but growing dynamic team, supporting global colleagues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working within a customer focused environment and dealing with suppliers.
  • A structured and methodical approach to the management of tasks along with an attention to deadline
  • Be able to work on own initiative, prioritise workload, work to tight deadlines, plan, organize and monitor several activities at the same time.

Very strong interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational ability and thrive on providing an excellent service. He/she will be diligent and results-focussed with a capacity to be part of the team. Excellent communication skills and interested parties must have confidence and diplomacy.
