About the Role
On behalf of our client in the Banking industry, Astek Canada is seeking a motivated IT Systems Administrator ready to take on new challenges.
Your Responsibilities
As an IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure the reliable, efficient operation of production data centre infrastructure & services with 24x7x365 uptime requirements.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining data center infrastructure.
  • Network strategic design, discovery and documentation, including logical and physical diagrams.
  • Ability to influence and lead others, train and mentor less-experienced engineers.
  • Perform daily maintenance and monitoring of Local Area Networks (LAN) / Wide Area Network (WAN) services per established procedures.
  • Partner with development and web operations teams to meet organizational goals, identify solutions to problems and proactively seek improvements in reliability and the performance of systems.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency and responsiveness, make recommendations and assist with implementing efficiencies.

Your Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • BSc in Computer Science or related Engineering is preferred.
  • 7+ years of increasingly responsible IT Infrastructure administration in data center/SaaS architectures within a DevOps/Agile framework.
  • A strong background in enterprise class network administration with experience in Juniper, Cisco and Palo Alto routing and switching technologies.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience administering data center infrastructure and complex cross-functional and cross-organizational projects for mid to large-scale technology companies.
  • 7+ years of Linux Systems Administration (Red Hat).
  • 7+ years of Oracle Database Administration.
  • 10+ years of experience with VMware Virtualization technologies (vSphere, Operations Manager, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, etc.).
  • 7+ years of Firewall and VPN design and implementation (eg: Juniper SRX).
  • 7+ years of data storage solutions administration.
  • 5+ years of Enterprise Security/ Information Security Administration and Management (Cyber Defense, Penetration Testing, Digital Forensic and Incident Response, etc.).
Key Skills:
  • Enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy, planning, and implementation experience.
  • Experience recommending new enterprise class technologies and processes that will improve overall customer service, reduce operating costs and/or provide a competitive advantage.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure and Data center monitoring software (PRTG, Sensu etc).
  • Microsoft Windows Server Administration (Windows Server 2008/2012/2016).
  • Collaboration services such as Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft CRM* IPS/ IDS
  • Backup, Deduplication and Replication Technologies (Quantum, EMC Data domaine).
  • Experience with VLANs, VTP, and network protocols particularly EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF.
  • Experience with RAID solutions, 3rd party file systems, experience designing distributed file system architectures (NFS, AFS, DFS, etc).
  • Experience with IBM SAN Storage environments, experience with IBM System X, and or Lenovo Flex System Enterprise Chassis environments.
  • Knowledge of fiber-channel storage arrays, hosts, switches, software, and storage networking infrastructure.
  • Application and process automation experience utilizing Ansible to automate common functions.
  • Intermediate experience with network admin (firewalls, routing, configure and upgrade a device).
  • Broadcom products; VCF, Vcenter, ES.
  • Beginner experience in Linux administration.
