IT System Administrator (Full-Time)



Maverick Gardner Information Technologies & Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced and assertive IT System Administrator to support and enforce standardized IT operations across multiple client sites in Ontario. This is a full-time, on-site role based out of

Mississauga, ON

, requiring regular travel to

Stratford

and

Brantford

.

This position is responsible not only for systems administration and technical support, but also for ensuring compliance with corporate IT policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements across all supported locations. The successful candidate must be comfortable enforcing policy, addressing non-compliance, and setting clear technical boundaries, even when doing so requires difficult conversations with site personnel.

This role is best suited for a technically strong professional with sound judgment, professional confidence, and the ability to operate as a trusted authority within client environments.

Compensation

Hourly Rate:

CA$32.00 - CA$38.00

per hour, based on experience and qualifications Vacation: 3 weeks (15 days) annually Personal Days: 2 paid personal days per year Benefits:

Primary Work Locations & Travel

Home Site:
Mississauga, ON

Additional Sites:
Stratford, ON (up to 2 days per week)
Brantford, ON (approximately 1 day every other week)

Mileage is reimbursed for all travel between the home site and secondary locations (bi-directional).

Regular travel is an essential requirement of this role.

Key Responsibilities

Enforce corporate IT policies, security standards, and operational procedures consistently across all supported sites. Act as an authority on acceptable IT practices, addressing non-compliance and escalating risks when required. Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise systems and business data in accordance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements. Administer and support Windows-based environments, including servers, workstations, and end-user software. Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations using least-privilege and compliance-driven principles. Perform, validate, and document routine system backups and restorations. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues on servers, workstations, printers, and related infrastructure. Monitor and analyze system, server, application, and network performance to identify risks or deviations from standards. Maintain accurate asset inventories, system documentation, and configuration records. Recommend and implement approved system upgrades, patches, and improvements in line with policy and change management practices. Identify and report security, compliance, or operational risks in a timely and professional manner. Ensure all work complies with corporate policies, contractual obligations, and applicable laws.
Role allocation:

80% - System design, implementation, technical issue resolution, and policy enforcement 15% - Administration, compliance tracking, and documentation 5% - Other assigned duties
Required Skills & Competencies

Strong technical knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, and networking fundamentals. Demonstrated experience administering: Windows Server environments Windows 10 and Windows 11 Microsoft 365 / Office 365 Windows Admin Center Endpoint management platforms (e.g., SCCM or equivalent) Proven ability to enforce standards, policies, and procedures, even in environments resistant to change. Professional confidence and judgment to challenge unsafe, non-compliant, or unauthorized practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear and defensible technical documentation. Customer-service awareness balanced with the ability to say "no" when required for security or compliance reasons. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate with minimal supervision. Willingness and ability to travel regularly between assigned sites.
Experience & Education

Experience: 4-6 years of hands-on experience in system administration or a closely related IT role Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field (required)
Certifications (Preferred)

One or more of the following are considered strong assets:

CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+ Microsoft certifications related to Windows Server or Microsoft 365 Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification Linux, virtualization, or cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, etc.) ITIL Foundation or similar service management training

Security, Compliance & Eligibility Requirements



Must be eligible to complete Controlled Goods Program (CGP) registration.

Permanent Residency is the minimum requirement.

Preference will be given to Canadian Citizens.
