Together we are responsible for safety, labour standards, apprenticeship, immigration and population growth, and many other facets of everyday life.About Our OpportunityAs a Computer Services Officer (IT Support Specialist) within the Safety Branch, you will be responsible for delivering end user support for Branch IT systems and for creating and maintaining documentation and resources required to support effective systems applications.Primary AccountabilitiesAs a Computer Services Officer (IT Support Specialist), you will play a crucial role in supporting users of Safety Branch IT systems, including OHS Amanda and Technical Safety Amanda. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining comprehensive end user documentation, manuals, and training materials in support of these systems, and will update, maintain, and improve section applications. You will assist with development of new section applications, user acceptance testing, project research, and data quality assurance, ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of Branch systems. Your role will also involve providing technical support during training sessions, managing the ordering and setup of IT equipment, and supporting FOIPOP inquiries.Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you have graduated from a recognized Information Technology program; an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.They should have proven experience in providing end user support for IT systems, preferably within a safety or regulatory environment, and be adept at creating and maintaining user manuals, cheat sheets, and technical documentation. Experience in developing and delivering training materials, both in-person and online, is essential. The candidate should also have experience in updating, maintaining, and improving IT applications, with proficiency in systems like OHS Amanda, Technical Safety Amanda, and Tableau. Additionally, they should be skilled in ordering, setting up, and troubleshooting IT equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with training teams, senior staff, and other stakeholders are crucial. Familiarity with project management tasks, such as assisting with project research and gathering requirements, as well as data analysis skills, particularly in modifying and creating Tableau workbooks, will be highly beneficial.
