We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Civil and Land Engineering firm in Ottawa, Canada, for a permanent, full-time, on-site Computer Systems Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional IT team and provide critical support across the organization.
What the Role Involves:
- Providing hands-on IT support to employees across the organization, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of computer systems, mobile devices, printers, scanners, AV equipment, and network peripherals.
- Supporting staff with video conferencing, phone systems, and other technology solutions to ensure smooth operations.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a Windows environment, including operating systems, device drivers, and common applications.
- Coordinating with internal IT team members and third-party providers to resolve technical issues and ensure security and reliability of systems.
- Supporting critical production deadlines and ensuring staff have efficient, reliable IT solutions.
- Contributing to IT projects such as evaluating new technologies and assisting with system upgrades.
- Maintaining professional communication with all staff while managing multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience in IT support, desktop support, or similar roles
- Post-secondary diploma in Computer Systems or related field
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suite
- Familiarity with IT security protocols, cloud computing, and common threats and countermeasures
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues, including network peripherals, printers, mobile devices, and AV systems
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and polished presence
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative IT team
