What You'll Do:



Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the IT Specialist is responsible for overseeing the organization's information technology environment and managing the relationship with the external Managed Service Provider (MSP). The position ensures that technology services are delivered effectively, meet operational and strategic requirements, and comply with applicable security and privacy standards.

The role serves as the primary internal contact for technology-related matters, facilitating communication between the organization's staff and external service providers. Key functions include vendor management, onsite support, technology planning, budget oversight, and maintaining IT documentation.

DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES



Act as primary liaison with our MSP, ensuring they meet service level agreements (SLAs) and deliver value.

Review, negotiate, and manage IT contracts and subscriptions.

Track MSP performance metrics and address recurring issues.

Work with leadership to develop and implement an annual IT plan and budget.

Evaluate and recommend technology upgrades or process improvements.

Ensure technology aligns with organisational priorities and compliance requirements.

Ensure MSP implements robust security measures (patching, backups, endpoint protection).

Maintain compliance with data privacy regulations.

Oversee user access controls and asset tracking.

Provide first-level technical support to staff (password resets, account setup, printer/network troubleshooting).

Coordinate onboarding/offboarding of staff in collaboration with MSP.

Develop simple user guides and training to help staff use tools effectively.

Maintain up-to-date IT documentation: network diagrams, software inventories, license records, and credentials.

Report on IT status, risks, and improvement initiatives to leadership.

What We're Looking For:



5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT project coordination.

Strong understanding of networks, cloud services (Microsoft 365) and cybersecurity basics.

Proven experience managing IT vendors.

Excellent communication skills -- able to explain technical issues in plain language.

Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Solutions-focused and able to work independently.

Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a small, dynamic organization Proven ability to develop innovative solutions for increased productivity and financial viability.

Superior negotiation skills in both internal and external settings.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, demonstrated by previous professional success.

Experience working with vulnerable populations and equity-seeking groups.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
