Job Description

  • Will provide technical expertise and analysis for the proactive and reactive responses to information security threats.
  • Will analyze and research known indicators, correlate events, identify malicious activity, and discover new sources to provide early warnings related to a variety of cyber threats. Perform testing on newly developed interfaces and systems.
a. Identifies, develops, implements cyber security controls to support cyber security operations.

b. Proactively identifies problems and opportunities for improvement of cyber security systems or processes, including architecture advancement, threat and risk mitigation, service level improvements, identity and access management improvements and customer demand management

c. Develop strong working relationships with the business units and key stakeholders.

d. Understand the key business drivers and processes.

e. Partner and collaborate with the business on implementing and adopting the new business process and be their single point of contact from IT for effectively and efficiently managing the Finance process.

f. Work with users to identify opportunities for improvement in existing processes.

g. Clearly identify and state the benefits and ROI for new projects and changes.

h. Build solid understanding of technology solutions and components.

i. Document required changes in agreed documentation and change management systems.

j. Conduct walkthrough's, presentations, or design sessions as appropriate.

k. Reads and interprets functional/technical literature and translates in terms understandable to the end-users.

Identifies, develops, implements cyber security controls|Provides cyber security services and solutions.
  • Post-secondary technical degree (e.g. Computer Engineering or Computer Science) or diploma with a suitable combination of education and experience maybe considered
  • 5 years of experience in Cyber Security
  • Demonstrated the ability to maintain cybersecurity services at enterprise scale.
  • Expertise of Endpoint Detection and Response tools. (Symantec Endpoint Protection, CrowdStrike or MS Defender for Endpoint.)
  • Understanding of security network architectures e.g., Firewalls, DMZ, proxies, DNS, web and mail servers, and the principles of networking.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, AWS, Azure, and SaaS based security solutions.
  • CISSP or CCSP is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise with the following technologies: Firewalls, DNS Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Secure Email Gateways, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Security Incident and Event Management Systems (SIEM), Threat Intelligence, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Forensics.
  • Demonstrated experience in management and improvement of IT security technologies and process, security architecture, and cyber incident response
  • Experience with NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Ontario Cybersecurity Framework
  • Utility Experience is an asset
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate ideas and influence change with people at all levels of the organization
  • Familiarity with general SIEM and enterprise logging concepts, ServiceNow, CMDB for asset recovery, Azure and Azure AD and Security tools, Endpoint logging agents (WinCollect, Winlogbeat, NXlog), Windows and Linux security.
