The Opportunity

This position will support the IT Maintenance and Security department with implementing and executing cyber security controls, and ongoing delivery of projects to maintain a sustainable and secure IT environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure to maintaining an IT environment with practical experience working in the challenging domain of cyber security.

This position is open to post-secondary students enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related fields.Recent graduates are not eligible for this opportunity.

Length of Term: 8, 12, or 16-month placement available
Start Date: January 2024

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and execution of projects required to maintain the availability and supportability of existing IT services:
  • end-user upgrades to Windows 11, including provisioning of laptops and supporting user migrations
  • installing and coordinating changes for network hardware upgrades
  • configuration changes to cloud (Azure) infrastructure such as AVD, user authentication and device security configurations
  • other projects based on business requirements and candidate\xe2\x80\x99s skillset and interests
  • Executing security operations activities:
  • Investigating security alerts and responding to breaches to resecure the environment
  • Monitoring and remediating deviations from security controls for misconfigured assets (accounts, devices, software)
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to existing security controls
The IT Security and Projects Analyst Intern role will be based out of the Calgary head office, with some accompanied travel to Wolf\xe2\x80\x99s field offices in Fort Saskatchewan, Sturgeon, and Conklin.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Minimum of 2 years already completed
Skills and Experience:
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting and configuration of various IT systems (hardware, operating systems, applications)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previously demonstrated interest in cyber security, and technical abilities relevant to automating tasks (e.g., Power Shell scripting), are key assets
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently, and a willingness to get involved wherever you can contribute to completing the team\xe2\x80\x99s objectives
