The impact you will have:

As the IT Security Analyst, you will be responsible for handling operational requirements for the IT Security Team, including monitoring reports from infrastructure & security systems, actioning tickets and incidents referred to the IT Security Team, supporting confidential technical investigations and implementing project requirements.

You will need existing experience working in large, complex environments and supporting both network and systems security requirements. A strong background in Internet services (TCP/IP, SMTP, DNS, SSL/HTTPS, SSH) with a focus on security, familiarity with Windows, Windows Server and Linux operating systems and familiarity with Cisco ASA, IOS and Meraki network devices is needed.

This is an ideal role for an individual who has been in a TCP/IP-based Network Support or Linux Administration role over the last 1-3 years and is looking to establish a career in IT security by expanding knowledge of multiple operating environments (Windows, Linux, Apple Mac ...)

What you'll do:

  • Execute IT security operations processes & procedures, and support IT technical teams.
  • Provide technical expertise in supporting investigations and compliance requirements.
  • Implement IT Infrastructure projects related to security.
  • Interface with all key stakeholders that deliver IT technology services to Softchoice including Service Desk, IT Infrastructure team and Managed Services teams.
  • Interact with Legal, Risk and Compliance and the corporate Incidence Response Team (IRT). This job also interfaces with all key stakeholders that deliver IT services to Softchoice including Service Desk and IT Infrastructure.
  • Provide support and practical (security) advice to Softchoice employees
  • Cyber security is all about unknowns. We do not know what the next attack will be or what new vulnerability is lurking around the corner. Once it strikes, the person in this role needs to react quickly to identify and address issues as per policy and raise potential concerns with the IT Security Leadership and Security Steering Committee as necessary.
What you'll bring to the table:
  • A high degree of concentration to review and action security reports daily.
  • Job involves regular on-call rotation and occasional visits to other offices
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion on tasks being performed specially security investigations. Work performed here is often done so under legal privilege.
  • Preferred University degree in an IT field or relevant Post-secondary education. Will consider related technical professional designations.
  • 3 years Network Administrator with experience with TCP/IP and Internet Services (SMTP, DNS, SSL/HTTPS, SSH) or Linux Administrator with experience with Linux services (Postfix, BIND, OpenSSH, Apache, Samba)
  • Experience working with and having access to confidential & sensitive information and interfacing with senior business leaders as a technical resource.
  • Experience in dealing with security issues and policy, as well as supporting audit and compliance requirements from a technical standpoint.
  • Previous experience with supporting IT Security policies, vulnerability assessments and risk remediation would be a benefit
