Our client:
Corporate office of a mid sized data center company
Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
Operational Leadership

  • Manage and support internal IT infrastructure including PCs, software, licensing, SaaS and networks.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of critical IT systems that support data centre operations.
  • Oversee IT service desk operations, providing timely support, troubleshooting and education to employees across all sites.
  • Asset management including detailed inventories of systems, configurations, locations and assigned users.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain IT policies aligned with ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, and other relevant data centre security standards.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to monitor, detect, and respond to threats, ensuring compliance with Canadian data sovereignty requirements.
  • Manage user access controls, patching, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management programs.
Project & Vendor Management
  • Plan and execute IT projects including system upgrades, migrations, and automation initiatives.
  • Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and IT services; evaluate new technology solutions to enhance operations.
  • Negotiate contracts and monitor service levels to ensure cost-effective delivery.

Qualifications and pre-requisites:
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a data centre, cloud, or telecom environment strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, routing), WiFi, VPNs, virtualization, and enterprise storage.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft, Linux, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience with monitoring, ticketing, and ITSM tools (ServiceNow, SolarWinds, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, IAM, and compliance standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS).
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability in high-availability environments.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
