Precision is looking for an IT Intern, Network to join the team for summer 2023.

• Applicants must be available for a non-negotiable start date of Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
• Applicants must be 18 years or older.
• Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Calgary area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.
• By May 10, 2023, applicants must have completed at least their first year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute.
  

Summary The IT Intern will complete a work term starting May 2023, and support Precision\xe2\x80\x99s growing environment at a technical level. The successful candidate will represent the infrastructure team in its relationships with business unit customers and other IT groups. A focus and appreciation of the need for process, change control, and infrastructure stability.
Responsibilities

• Monitoring and management of the following technologies to ensure the availability, reliability, and responsiveness:
  • LAN/WAN/WLAN voice and data network topologies;
  • Network security infrastructure including firewalls, IDS/IPS, Azure cloud services;
  • 3rd party telecom services including MPLS, VPN, Internet, LEO Satelite;
  • Voice services including VoIP, Cellular, Teams;
  • Video Conferencing; and,
• Management of documentation and providing networking technical support to internal clients.

Knowledge & Skills Effective and enthusiastic team player, who works efficiently with minimal supervision; Excellent inter-personal skills and communication skills; Strong technical management and support skills, specifically able to work with end users to identify and resolve business issues in an innovative manner; Strong analytical and customer service skills; Self-motivated and disciplined; and, Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Education Pursuing a Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or related studies with an aptitude for Infrastructure technologies.
Experience Experience with infrastructure networking and security systems/protocols and related technologies; LAN, WAN (BGP and OSPF), WLAN, VPN, FW, VoIP, and IDS/IPS; Experience with the Oil & Gas Industry, ITIL practices and SOX compliance is an asset; Previous experience supporting production environments, and working with end users to identify and resolve business issues innovatively is an asset; and, Previous experience working in a team-orientated, collaborative environment is required.
