Friends of Ruby Friends of Ruby is dedicated to the journey and well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, aged 16-29 through mental health services, social services, and housing. Friends of Ruby offers mental health services, case management, programming and practical supports at our Youth Drop-In Centre and Transitional Home. The Centre provides access to low-barrier psychotherapy and group therapy, case management and a welcoming space with hot meals, community, and wrap around services. The Home provides transitional and emergency housing, as well as skill development and mental health services to support youth transitioning to independent living.

Position Summary The IT Coordinator, reporting to the Manager, Knowledge and Design, is required to perform in a fast-paced high-energy environment, supporting staff and senior leadership with the planning, implementation and maintenance of all IT assets and systems. This position regularly interacts with staff, management and external vendors.
The candidate should be prepared to manage multiple tasks, tight deadlines and coordinate with multiple teams and our external vendors. This is a perfect position for a client centric professional with a true passion for technology, and a positive attitude, who likes to learn new things while tackling technical challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess the current IT practices in the Organization, the procedure in place, policies, security systems and make recommendations for both software and hardware to improve operational efficiencies and quality
  • Configure and maintain IT assets and infrastructure including hardware (e.g. laptops, phones, routers, printers, etc.) and software (e.g. Microsoft Office, SharePoint, third party applications, data management platforms, etc.) to ensure they operate efficiently to meet the needs of the organization
  • Onboard new staff to IT systems, support staff with hardware and software troubleshooting and assist staff with day-to-day IT tasks
  • Support Management in assessing IT risks, researching and implementing IT security best practices and training staff in cyber security
  • Interact with vendors to resolve technical issues with hardware and software.
  • Support Finance department in managing IT budget
  • Support Finance in managing IT vendors
  • Coordinate implementation of new applications and systems including configuration, testing, deployment and staff training.
  • Develop IT manuals, procedures, and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements
  • Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Police Check Program
  • Must be qualified to legally work in Canada
  • Willing to work onsite at our Friends of Ruby office and/or transitional home, both located in downtown Toronto
  • Willing to work on a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the organization, working evenings on occasions
  • Ability to travel to other community-based settings as needed
