Course Number and Title: IRE342H1S Essentials of Finance and Accounting
Course Description:This course introduces students to accounting and finance procedures and concepts used by organizational leaders and professionals. The course covers both managerial and financial accounting topics with applications to organizational decision-making. Note: Course will not count towards Rotman Commerce program requirements.
Estimated Course Enrolment: 65 students

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 18:00 \xe2\x80\x93 21:00
This course is scheduled to be delivered in-person. Please note that the course delivery method may change as determined by the University or the Centre.

Minimum Qualifications: Completed Ph.D. in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or related discipline\xcd\xbe or a combination of advanced degrees (e.g.MIR/MBA/LLB in applicable area) and equivalent professional background. Expert knowledge of subject area. Proven excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience teaching a similar course. Prior course evaluations (including written comments) from a post-secondary institution, preferably U of T, that demonstrate teaching excellence and mastery of the subject area.
Description of Duties: The design, preparation and delivery of course content, including teaching lectures or seminars; creation of course materials\xcd\xbe the development and administration of assignments, tests, and examinations\xcd\xbe invigilation of the final examination\xcd\xbe the marking and grading of student work, and the submission of grades to the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources in accordance with established policies and procedures\xcd\xbe the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside scheduled classroom hours\xcd\xbe and the supervision of the day-to-day work of teaching assistants assigned to the course. Attendance at CIRHR Undergraduate instructor meetings and with the Undergraduate Associate Director (or designate) as scheduled.
