Summary:



Blue Falls Manufacturing (BFM) is currently looking for one (1) full-time Inventory Control Supervisor to assist in overseeing and managing the inventory processes at our corporate headquarters in Thorsby, Alberta.

Reporting to the Inventory Control Manager, the Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for assisting the department manager in overseeing the flow of materials, supplies, and products and managing a team of inventory staff to ensure stock levels are accurate. The Supervisor is accountable for supporting less experienced teammates and may help train and mentor team members as necessary. The ideal candidate will exude leadership traits, possess strong analytical skills and have a solid understanding of inventory management principles.

Work/life balance is part of BFM's philosophy - Inventory Control works Monday thru Friday, typically 8:00AM to 4:30PM (hours may be subject to minor fluctuation based on operational requirements).

Duties:



Support warehouse operations related to inventory storage and space utilization, escalate to GM to make aware of facility limitations and capacity concerns. Operate equipment, such as forklifts, lift-reach trucks/lifts, pallet jacks, and other job-related equipment. Support shipping and receiving functions (receipt, picking, packing, and shipping activities) to ensure accuracy of vendor shipment to PO, identification or reporting of discrepancies as well as entry into inventory management systems and reconciliation. Verify accuracy of catalogue / inventory numbers, descriptions, quantities, units and location; assist with resolving discrepancies. Review stocking levels Using daily Cycle Counts according to established forecast and manufacturing priority list to issue required purchase orders as well as report on obsolete and overstocked materials. Responsible for purchase order input and the review of purchase orders and/or purchase order agreements to ensure proper flow down of prime terms and conditions prior to issuance. Communicate with finance and budget owners to ensure all budgetary and expenditure requirements are met prior to PO issuance. Archival of full purchase, coordination, and approval process, documentation, and correspondence for every PO issued according to established document and information management systems. Work with Logistics team and suppliers to schedule pickup times, delivery times, and routing information / decisions. Process returns according to identified requirements. Archival of full purchase return and return material authorization order documentation and correspondence according to established document and information management systems. Investigate and/or constructively escalate and recover from backorder, damage or delay issues and communicate outcomes to impacted stakeholders. Support inventory team in completion, tracking and resolution of overage, shortage, and damages (OSD). Effective implementation of inventory procedure, controls, performance indicators in purchase and storage of all inventory in the facility. Other related duties as required.

Skills/Abilities:



Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision but also collaboratively in a team setting. Strong leadership skills; ability to teach/train and mentor team members. Mathematical and analytical skills: Ability to perform calculations, interpret data, etc. Knowledge of supply chain principles, warehouse operations, and inventory control methods. Attention to detail - essential for accurately tracking stock, counting items, and maintaining records. Organization and time management skills. Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and address inventory discrepancies and logistical challenges efficiently. Good mobility and manual dexterity Able to sit or stand for sustained durations

Technical/Computer Competency:



Proficiency in inventory management software for tracking, monitoring, and generating reports, as well as warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP systems. Proficiency with RFID systems Intermediate to advanced ERP proficiency (Microsoft Business Central 18). Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel.

Experience:



5+ years' end-to-end supply chain experience encompassing logistics, inventory, and procurement. Minimum 3 years' supervisory experience/team management Experience in established problem-solving/process improvement methodology, i.e. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma or related considered an asset

Qualifications:



Some post-secondary education in business/commerce, supply chain, logistics, operations management or related quantitative field considered an asset. Coursework in, actively working towards, or completed certification in supply chain i.e.: Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), etc. considered an asset. Ample experience in end-to-end supply considered in lieu of education.

Work Environment/Conditions:



Hours of work 8:00AM-4:30PM, negotiable within reason; potential overtime required. Primarily indoor, office/desk work with requirement to occasionally attend warehouse, yard, and production facilities. Limited exposure to fluctuating weather/temperatures; potential exposure to inclement weather on rare occasion. May be exposed to dust/particulates, varying noise levels, and possibly chemicals/fumes.

Compensation:
