Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager - Cultural and Educational Outreach, the guide/facilitator will participate in the design and facilitation of educational activities. He/she will contribute to the development of cultural outreach activities tailored to diverse audiences and will collaborate in the organization of specific artistic and cultural events related to cultural action.
Departmental mission:
The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.
General responsibilities and goals:
The jobholder's main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Welcome and inform visitors
  • Lead artistic and cultural activities (tours, workshops, or any other activity) using a variety of educational strategies tailored to the diversity of visitors
  • Participate in the development of the cultural outreach program
  • Participate in the design and scripting of educational activities for specific audiences (daycare centers, day camps, seniors, families, audiences with special needs, newcomers, etc.) both at the Stewart Hall Cultural Center and off-site
  • Participate in the development and production of educational tools through research, popularization, and the writing of educational content
  • Collaborate in the organization and facilitation of cultural events
  • Contribute to the prospecting of new clienteles and new partnerships
  • Participate in the evaluation of the visitor experience: collection and compilation of statistics and comments, ad hoc surveys
  • Organize the storage, restocking, and maintenance of artistic materials in accordance with best practices in responsible procurement
  • Perform any other related tasks
Job requirements:
  • The position requires an Attestation of Specialized Studies (AES) or an Attestation of College Studies (AEC) (for example, in Arts) or equivalent
  • The position requires six (6) months to less than one (1) year of experience.
  • Bilingualism (spoken and written French and English)
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Demonstrate tact, calmness, and courtesy
  • Interest in contemporary art
  • Ability to simplify and adapt content to the specificities of target audiences
  • Autonomy
  • Punctuality
  • Creativity
  • Hold a Class 5 driver's license
Schedule:
Variable on call. Available evenings and weekends.
