Job Description

Kingsway Academy is fast developed private boarding high school, located on the campus of King's University College at Western University. Kingsway Academy recruit and educate international students mainly from Asian countries. Students are benefit from university environment and high qualify of education we provided. We currently looking for a International Student Counsellor to provide services to international students from Vietnam.

Responsibilities:

An International Student Counselor plays a crucial role in supporting and assisting students who have come from other countries to pursue education abroad. The job duties can vary depending on the institution and the specific needs of the students, but generally include the following:

Academic Guidance:

Assisting students in course selection based on their academic background, career goals, and interests.
Providing information on academic policies, procedures, and deadlines.

Cultural Adjustment and Orientation:

Offering guidance on adapting to a new cultural and educational environment.
Organizing orientation programs to help students integrate into the academic and social life of the institution.

Personal Counseling:

Offering support for personal and emotional challenges that international students may face.
Referring students to appropriate resources or professionals when needed.

Legal Compliance:

Ensuring that international students are aware of and comply with local laws and regulations.
Collaborating with relevant authorities to address any legal or immigration-related issues.

Health and Wellness Support:

Informing students about healthcare services and insurance options.
Assisting with access to mental health resources and support.

Advocacy and Liaison:

Serving as an advocate for international students within the institution.
Collaborating with other departments to address the unique needs of international students.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

Maintaining accurate records of international students.
Generating reports on the performance and well-being of international students.

Crisis Intervention:

Responding to emergencies or crises affecting international students and coordinating appropriate support.

Effective communication, cultural sensitivity, and a thorough understanding of educational policies are essential for success in this role. International Student Counselors often work closely with various departments, including admissions, academic advising, and student affairs, to ensure a comprehensive support system for international students.

Skills:
- Experience working with student with age from 15-19, particularly in an educational setting
- Ability to educate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, education agents and parents
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and establish trust
- Excellent listening and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: $17.50-$20.00 per hour
