At Rio Tinto, we believe the best ideas come from bringing people together with different perspectives to work toward a common goal - to create a better tomorrow.About the roleWe are offering a 4 month (September to December) Mine Planning internship based in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador at our .This internship will allow you to have direct exposure to mine engineering work on an active mine site. You will support different activities relating to IOC\'s mine planning process.In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting mine planners with planning horizons, blast event, and infrastructure planning
• Performing mine reconciliation (spatial, equipment, haulage network)
• Contributing to continuous improvements initiatives related to unlocking haulage capacity
• Providing mine design support
• Assisting in the implementation of our downhill haulage procedure through updates to our traffic management plan, mine design standards, and risk assessment
• Participating in HSE related programs, including safety talks and field observations

What you\'ll bring
