THE ROLE
We are actively looking for an Intern Analyst, Active Public Markets, to join our team in January 2026, for a 4-month internship. This role will be part of a growing and dynamic Investment team, reporting into the Senior Analyst, Active Public Markets. The incumbent will be responsible for helping to manage the Public Markets portfolio, with a specific focus on building monitoring tools. This role will be involved in manager review and due diligence meetings.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an graduate student to gain valuable work experience in a fast-growing, dynamic environment while being a part of a new pension plan.
This role is based in downtown Toronto in a hybrid work environment, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (minimum two days per week in-office).
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Work with the Investment team on monitoring UPP's Active Public Markets investment strategies with a focus on equity strategies
Support daily monitoring efforts across active long-only and absolute return equity strategies
Help produce risk related monitoring report using 3rd party risk aggregator
Participate in manager review and due diligence process
Assisting with the development and implementation of reporting tools to enhance active public markets portfolio oversight and external manager monitoring
Summarize and report portfolio and peer data to management
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Pursuing a graduate degree, in Business, Commerce, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or related Masters' program
Familiarity with Python and Excel VBA programming
Interest in pursuing CFA, FRM or any other relevant professional designation
Previous experience with Bloomberg and/or Aladdin systems is considered a strong asset
