SUMMARY -

Intermodal Coordinator

Shift: Sunday to Thursday 22:00-05:00

Reports to: Intermodal Operational Manager

KEY ACTIVITIES



Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:




1.

Track and Monitor Intermodal Movements

Follow up on all ETA requests in a timely manner Investigate root cause of delays Update customer tracking reports as required Communicate with CN personnel regarding trip plans, rail billing, and delays Ensure accuracy of all information being relayed to the customers Report left behind units and terminal delays daily Terminal tracking reports to be sent to city dispatch groups daily, ensuring accuracy of ETA's Report all loads requiring delivery appointments to the customer service group and appointment desks within 48 hours of rail ETA Create service alerts on delayed orders, notify customer service to allow proactive communication to customers

Dispatch Maritime, Saskatchewan, and US loads

Track loads inbound to the Maritime provinces, keeping third party carriers informed of ETA's Communicate customer appointment times to third party carriers to ensure on-time delivery Accurate entry of all information in dispatches, including weight, seal, piece count, temperature, arrival and departure times Request equipment and reservations for designated areas as required Book pick up and delivery appointments with CNTL as needed for US and NL loads Create weekly outbound planning sheets for Saskatchewan and Maritimes Manual rail billing as required Scanning documents in Synergize

3.

Monitor Temperature Discrepancies

Using iBright and TK Tracking, confirm that the reefer set points match the order and manifest temperatures in TMW and on customer bills Tracking ice cream, meat and high priority loads for set temperature, box temperature, alarm codes, and fuel levels Contacting CN to request reefer re-fueling or mechanical checks at accessible terminals while in transit Report offline units or reefer codes to Call Centre to arrange for repair Report units of concern to dispatch, with rail ETA's, to arrange pick up and repair as needed

4.

Communication with Internal Customers

Relay accurate information to the customer service group regarding ETA's, rail delays, etc. Liaise with the dispatch group regarding ETA's, billing issues, missed in-gates, etc. Report areas of concern to management as needed

5.

Minimize Accessorial Costs

Notify terminal dispatch staff of all units available for pick up at rail terminals to reduce storage charges Notify terminal managers of rental equipment accruing detention fees to prioritize the return of units

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE



Education

High School Diploma - Preferred Certification in Supply Chain or Logistics is preferred.

Experience

Experience in a fast paced environment, critical thinking skills, communication skills, time management skills, and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision Computer proficient in a variety of software applications (TMW, Microsoft Excel, Telecommunications, CN One, etc. would be an asset. Minimum 1 year of dispatching experience in road or rail operations Excel medium to advanced level required Excellent organizational skills, including time management, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task Excellent communication skills, ability to respond to inquiries quickly and accurately via email and phone Proficient in critical thinking and decision making Ability to analyze and compile data and information accurately Proficient in a variety of software applications (TMW, Microsoft Excel, Telematics, CN One, etc.) Ability to plan and dispatch drivers for on-time delivery Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build and foster relationships with internal and external customers, driven to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction Intimate knowledge of Canadian geography and CN's terminals and rail sidings. Knowledge of CN's network including terminal abilities, terminal challenges, and cutoffs.
