The Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering Group is currently seeking a Traffic Engineer / Technologist for the Greater Golden Horseshoe area to serve its large and growing client base. The Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering Group currently has a portfolio of 30 projects for a diverse group of public sector clients, which includes Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, City of Toronto, City of Mississauga, City of Hamilton, York Region, Peel Region, Niagara Region, and Toronto Transit Commission, among others. The projects cover the full spectrum of studies and as such include feasibility studies, environmental assessment studies, operational studies as well as preliminary and detailed design studies.

The Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering Group is part of MH\xe2\x80\x99s Transportation Business Unit, which provides planning, design and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit, rail, bridge and related projects.

This position can be staffed at either our Markham or Burlington office. The position offers potential for career development and growth. You will be mentored and supported by a strong technical team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects. Projects are expected to include traffic impact studies, safety assessments, highway corridor assessments, infrastructure rehabilitation staging plans, transportation master plans, environmental assessments, sustainable transportation, traffic impact assessments, active transportation (walking and cycling), travel demand modeling, traffic simulation, network and corridor planning, traffic calming, and parking studies.
  • Obtain and analyze traffic and collision date
  • Undertake transit/traffic operational assessments and setup/calibrate transportation models
  • Undertake best practices review and environment scans
  • Coordination the delivery of transportation projects with internal and/or external clients
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of proven experience in delivering transportation planning and/or traffic engineering services in the public or private sectors.
  • A solid understanding of various transportation-related software packages (i.e. HCS, Synchro, VISSIM or EMME/3).
  • Eligibility for PTOE, P.Eng. or C.E.T. designation is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in at least two or more of the following areas:
- Municipal transportation planning studies

- Traffic operations

- Traffic impact studies

- Transportation modeling

- Transit planning and/or operations

- Sustainable transportation & TDM

- Neighbourhood traffic studies

- Safety assessments

- Environmental assessment studies

- Functional roadway design

- Parking facility design and planning

- Active Transportation
