Krahn Engineering is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Structural Division in Edmonton, AB.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Act as the structural engineering lead for small and medium-sized projects with the intent to develop skills toward becoming a project manager for larger projects.
  • Lead and manage multiple teams of project engineers and technologists and perform quality control on the designs.
  • Lead involvement in client meetings during design and construction, as required.
  • Develop concept/schematic designs for discussions with architects, owners, developers, etc,
  • Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including existing buildings and structures.
  • Review engineering design for compliance with established codes, standards, and specifications; provides technical support to designers and drafters.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with structural engineering design software (SAP, ETABS, SAFE, etc,) and BlueBeam
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with technical staff in preparation of contract drawings and documents and other work tasks.
  • Coordinate structural designs and documents with other disciplines (Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Landscaping I etc.).
  • Provide structural engineering support during construction, attend site meetings, and carry out field reviews.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, project specifications, etc.
  • Mentor and support junior staff with regards to project work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Eng. status with a minimum of 10 years of proven experience in building design using Canadian codes and design standards.
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a strong interest and experience in buildings.
  • Proficient in structural engineering design software: AutoCAD, Revit and Sketch-up.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Self-starter and team player who works well with minimal direct supervision
  • A valid driver's license.
