Your Opportunity
We are actively seeking a talented Intermediate or Senior Marine Biologist to join our aquatics team in British Columbia. Ideally located in the lower mainland, Vancouver Island or Terrace region, the successful candidate will work in a team environment leading or contributing to environmental impact assessments, environmental effects mitigation and monitoring programs, research projects and permitting (e.g. under the Fisheries Act or Environmental Management Act ). Depending on level of expertise (intermediate or senior level), tasks may include writing and reviewing proposals and reports, planning or conducting field work, preparing and delivering presentations, and business development. The successful candidate will help shape our marine practice in BC and beyond.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead and/or prepare complex assessment and permitting documents (e.g., Fisheries Act authorization applications, Waste Discharge Authorization applications, Disposal at Sea applications, Environmental Assessment technical chapters)
Contribute leadership to the group by providing supervision, training, technical direction, and mentoring to junior and intermediate staff
Manage, plan, and lead marine field programs (e.g., marine fish, marine mammals, intertidal diversity, water and sediment quality)
Assemble, manage, and analyze large marine datasets
Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget
Lead the pursuit of new business development opportunities by preparing proposals and building and maintaining positive client relationships
Understand recent and existing practices and techniques for sampling and analysis of data from marine intertidal, subtidal and pelagic environments
Embrace and promote Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work
A people leadership position may be available based on interest and qualifications, but is not a requirement for this position
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proven technical, communication, writing and organization skills
Familiarity with coastal marine ecology and knowledge of current provincial and federal government regulatory requirements
