Computer Upgrading Specialists Ltd. specializes in providing technicians for full-time contract IT positions with multi-national IT companies. Our IT clients include Compugen, Insight, Softchoice, CompuCom, and others. Our technicians typically work on-site at Suncor, Cenovus, Alberta Government, and other Fortune 500 companies.
Positions typically involve 2-week to 6-month terms with Computer Upgrading Specialists, often converted into a full-time permanent with our client at the conclusion of the term. Computer Upgrading Specialists Ltd. has promoted nearly 830 of our technicians to full-time permanent positions with our clients over the past 30 years.
Positions typically involve system configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, deskside and network support, and hardware servicing, on large-scale deployment projects in the province of Alberta.
DUTIES OF THIS ROLE:
Respond to incidents such as infrastructure, network or SQL problems, and access requests to various tools like Secret Server and SolarWinds
Actively work in monitoring, event and incident management tools like SolarWinds - Orion and various other monitoring tools, as well as address the incident lifecycle through the use of Service Now
Manage server backups and maintenance plans across the client environment
Complete approved changes of IT infrastructure within change windows, such as patching as outlined by the change calendar
Perform physical infrastructure checks regularly and remediate any issues
Complete quarterly vulnerability scans and remediate identified issues
Qualifications:
-Graduates of Post-secondary IT programs from NAIT, SAIT, or similar, including fast-track programs involving computer system technology, networking, technical service, and deskside support
-Certifications are definite assets: A+, Network+, Security+
- CCNA and/or CCNP certifications desirable
- 2+ years experience with NOC or other related infrastructure tasks
-Strong communication and people skills
-Experience working on a team or project
-Strong work ethic
2+ years of experience managing complex, multi-tenant infrastructure tools, on-premise and cloud-connected technologies
Experience managing IT service management tools, including performance monitoring and ITSM solutions
Experience working with and managing incidents, problems, changes and service requests that follow ITIL framework standards
Experience with first-level server technologies (i.e. remoting into servers, implementing patches)
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical and procedural issues
Ability to be on-site at a SE Calgary location
Availability to work varying schedules of 4 days on, 3 days off ( with every 4-weeks rotation), for 10-hour work shifts with rotation of days, evenings and overnights.
