Position Description

The Department of Perioperative Services, SickKids is looking for an
Intermediate Financial Analyst
to join the Department's Finance Team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance, you will oversee the individual financial reporting requirements of the Department's Faculty members. You will be part of an integral team that manages physician funding support, billings and related operating costs of practice. In this role, you will take ownership by providing fulsome accounting support and recommendations for eleven divisions and departments within Perioperative Services.
Here's what you'll get to do:
A unique role, separate from the Hospital or Research Finance Departments, you will complete delegated month-end processes and reporting activities for the Association's surgeons, anesthetists and physicians.
Record on-going operating cheque payments, EFTs and perform bank deposits.
Perform variance analysis on business statements to identify potential risks.
Validate and execute biweekly and monthly physician EFT remunerations by tracking changes, logging approvals, reviewing, and preparing files to ensure payment accuracy.
Maintain the general ledger through preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Support the Department's SFA by assisting with the year-end audit process including providing supporting documentation and responding to queries from external auditors.
Point of contact forad hoc physician spending inquiries.
Support the Sr Manager in periodic updates on individual business account activity to ensure sufficient balances are maintained.
Collaborate with physician administrative team to provide support on General Ledger and PeopleSoft Finance System inputs to interpret critical financial information.
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis, and/or other assignments as assigned by Department's leadership team.
Sharing this duty with the SFA, review physician expense report submissions for accurate accounting allocation, confirming proper documentation are provided while ensuring all policies are honored.
Ad hoc analysis and reporting of miscellaneous clinical and non-clinical revenue sources
Assist in gathering and compiling data for ministry reporting, understanding the requirements and ensuring submissions are error free.
Here's what you'll need:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a medium to large business organization.
Undergraduate degree in Business or Accounting.
Completion or working towards completion of a professional accounting designation prefered (CPA).
Experience with Workday Adaptive Insights, PeopleSoft Financial, PowerBI and Qlikview would be preferred.
Self-starter, curiosity that will fuel independent learning and willingness to improve old processes.
Previous experience in a Healthcare environment would be an asset.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with department managers, administrative support staff and hospital/research finance partners.
Commitment to collaborative teamwork, with a passion for process simplification.
Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Highly organized, analytical and detail-oriented.
Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with reporting tool
