Your Opportunity

We have an immediate opportunity for an Environmental Project Coordinator (Site Investigation & Remediation) to join our dynamic Environmental Services team in the Northwest Territories. As a key member of the team, your technical knowledge and field experience will allow you to develop your skills as a project coordinator, mentor and lead more junior personnel. This position will be responsible for supporting project management tasks of various projects, coordinating detailed reliable field data collection, providing direction to contractors, and working with senior project managers to address client\'s needs.

This position will be based out of Stantec\'s Yellowknife office.

Your Key Responsibilities

This is a unique position working as an Environmental Project Coordinator on large and/or complex projects across Northern Canada, supporting field programs where your field knowledge and experience are required, and working towards independent management of your own projects:

Actively participating in promoting a strong health and safety culture in the team

Under the supervision of a Senior PM, you will perform project management tasks such as scope development, cost estimates, contract initiation, project setup, field coordination, budget tracking, resourcing, schedule development, driving deliverables, and the execution of contaminated sites projects

Organize and oversee field programs, including subcontractor agreements, scheduling, equipment resourcing, etc.

Scheduling of field staff and contractors

Lead complex field investigations, when required, for projects such as Phase I/II/III ESAs and remediation projects

Provide mentorship and training to more junior field staff

Work with leadership to continually assess the direction of the practice through technical initiatives

Collaborate across disciplines including Indoor Environments, Environmental Assessment disciplines, Geotechnical, Atmospheric Sciences, and Water Resources across Stantec Canada offices

Occasionally participating in marketing and business development meetings

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Strong communication and organization skills are essential

A strong affinity for teamwork and training/mentoring junior and seasonal (summer student) field staff is also essential for this position

Superior and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated knowledge of the various territorial and federal environmental regulations and guidelines

Flexibility to travel for meetings and to support field programs when needed (anticipate up to 50% travel during peak field season); this position will be largely office based; however, will involve a combination of field and office work during peak field season

Education and Experience

A minimum of three to five years of related experience in contaminated sites, delivering outstanding technical solutions on projects, ideally within the Northwest Territories is required.

A Bachelor\'s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology or Engineering, or a College Diploma in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Technology or Engineering Technology.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather as well as travel to remote communities
