Join us.AECOM is actively seeking an Intermediate Environmental/Civil Engineer to join our growing Western Canada remediation team in British Columbia. This is a Full-time role.This position is ideally suited to an intermediate environmental engineering professional seeking a mix of field and office responsibilities. Work will vary pending the applicants experience and career aspirations. When not engaged in active field tasks, the right candidate can work locally from our Burnaby, BC office; plus AECOM can provide hybrid work options to give the flexibility you need to do your best work. Depending on time of year, field work will likely represent 40 to 65% of your time with office-based tasks representing the remainder of the time.Field work locations can vary from local to remote locations on a range of active to decommissioned commercial and industrial sites.Field tasks will include:

  • Oversight and execution of sample collection of various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapour, etc.) as part of environmental site investigations, design work packages, and confirmation of remediation programs.
  • Oversight of contractors.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • General field inspection and field survey.
  • Construction / remediation construction field services oversight.
  • Safety tailgate meetings and hazard assessments.
Office tasks will include:
  • Project Management and project coordination, including client liaison
  • Direction and oversight of junior staff
  • Preparation of safety plans and hazards assessments
  • Data evaluation against provincial and federal environmental requirements
  • Support of engineering calculations and design.
  • Preparation of deliverables including reports, engineering specifications, and associated drawings.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience including any co-operative education experience in environmental consulting, industry, or regulatory environment versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and/or waste management.
  • Registered or eligible for registry with EGBC or similar Canadian association
  • Engineering degree in a relevant technical discipline, including but not limited to environmental, civil, mining, hydrogeological, and geological study areas.
  • A valid Driver\'s license.
  • Ability to travel for field work within the province.
Preferred Qualification:
  • 6+ years of experience including any co-operative education experience in environmental consulting, industry, or regulatory environment versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and/or waste management
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
  • Prior field sampling or site investigation experience
  • BC based and/or federal client work experience
  • Engineering design experience under the supervision of professional engineer, including preparation of specification packages.
  • Skills and abilities:
  • Solid written and spoken communication skills, including using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports

Additional Information
  • Offered rate of compensation in Burnaby, BC will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $77,000 - $108,000.
  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
